Welcome to the Mozilla community in Egypt. We’re a community of Egyptians who are interested in free web and we devote ourselves to making the Internet better for everyone. The Mozilla community in Egypt is one of the most active and the most famous communities in Africa. The Mozilla community in Egypt began in 2011, and since then we have made great changes to people’s cultures in all parts of Egypt because of Mozilla and Mozilla activities. Let us explore some of the activities of the Mozilla community in Egypt :
Mozilla Power ‘13 Event : This was a two day event with 800 attendees on 20th-21st December 2013 at British University in Egypt. The first day was in regard to Mozilla in general, and the second day was regarding Firefox OS, called “Firefox OS App Day”, specifically targeting around 150 developers.
The event goals were to help developers get started building Firefox Apps, and to educate and inspire developers to work on HTML5 apps and submit them to the Firefox Marketplace.
Mozilla Egypt Tour #1 : The first part is to give people a chance to look at the big picture of Mozilla and Mozilla Egypt community: in particular, who we are and what we believe in. We’ll talk about new mozilla technologies, insights into the Mozilla Egypt community, and how to get involved. Lots of fun challenges will be there. The second part involves Firefox OS and WebMaker circles. Join us to learn and celebrate Firefox OS (Mozilla’s open source operating system for the mobile web) and Mozilla Webmaker. The Mozilla Egypt community visits a lot of cities in all parts of Egypt.
FirefoxOS Apps Challenge : it was an online challenge for Egyptian IT community and Developers to make apps for Firefox OS and share them on the Marketplace. The 5 winners received a free KLIF device sponsored by mobinil! . This was held August 18 – September 15, 2015
