Dear Community,

We hope you are doing great!
This week is all about startups and great initiatives we can see flourishing across the continent and of course some news from our Mozillians!
Let’s dive into it!

Mozilla Tunisia
Our Mozilla Tunisia team will be on holidays next week and most of their members back to their home towns. They will rest and enjoy to come back with even more energy for two events planned for April, “Bugzilla initiation workshop” for members to understand the bug management system at Mozilla and how important it is for coding and community management projects. They are also planning a “Geek meet” where anyone will be able to demonstrate a project he was working on, not necessarily a Mozilla related project but anything can be shared with the community to learn and see how this can help in the future, maybe this can be streamed so anyone can join.
So stay tuned on Mozilla Africa and Mozilla Tunisia channels!

#AfricanGeek
This week we discovered a new 100% African web series fighting (with humour) the stereotype on tech and digital, #African Geek.
With this web series the creators aim to show people that new technologies are available for everyone. But they don’t stop there; the big ambition would be to create 10 000 african programmers in 10 years.
A beautiful project – that is both funny and useful!

We Cash Up
Young entrepreneurs are shaking Cameroon! This week we introduce you We Cash Up, a fintech start-up challenging the bank industry!
What is it?
This innovative projects allows

  • people who don’t own a bank account to purchase online,
  • e-sellers to access broader markets,
  • secure access to online payments both for sellers and buyers.

Although the long-term goal is to be internationally recognised, We Cash Up was primarily created for the African market. The developer, Cédric ATANGANA really wants to make a change in Africa and provide a secure online banking platform for the continent.

Startupper of the year
Have you heard about the contest Total Africa launched all over the continent? Startupper of the year is THE contest to promote projects coming from young, talented and original people.
Want to know more? here is the intro video.

But more importantly, the finalists have been revealed! You will find the list of the selected projects here. We are happy to see all those ideas come to life thanks to bright minds and courageous entrepreneurs! This is what we love about Africa, everything can happen!
Congrats to all the participants and we will for sure follow the progress of all your enterprises!
